During the 1937 Nanjing Massacre, a young postman named A Chang disguised himself as a photo lab technician to survive. He worked for Japanese military journalist Ito, developing photos, while secretly sheltering Chinese civilians and soldiers—including the photo studio owner Lao Jin and his family—turning the studio into a temporary refuge.
Facing the brutal atrocities captured in the photos, A Chang risked his exposure to escort the refugees to safety and smuggled out evidence of Japanese war crimes, exposing the truth to the world.
